New Book Recs by Addison Wright

 I got quite a few books over winter break and have already read most of them! I decided to rank them and give recommendations on which ones I think are the best.


1. Death Note


Death Note is about an extremely smart high school senior, who is bored with his life. Light Yagami, the protagonist, then finds a notebook that simply has the words "Death Note" on the cover. He picks it up and when he gets home, he opens it to find rules on it. It says that if you write someone's first and last name in the book, the person will die in sixty seconds from a heart attack. This leads Light to start writing criminals' names in the book, which makes the police force start suspecting that someone is magically murdering them. It turns into a police chase, with Light working alongside the police as a "detective" on the case.

This manga was extremely interesting and an amazing read. I got the entire set and blew through them so fast. I watched the anime first and it was such a confusing but entertaining read. I would recommend this to anyone who would ask.

2. A Silent Voice


A Silent Voice is about Shouko-- an elementary school student who has a hearing impairment --who gets bullied for being deaf. The bully, Shoya, bullies her so badly that he forces her to move away. Shouko then moves back for high school, doing better mentally than ever. Shoya is doing much worse since he has no friends since he bullied Shouko into leaving.

This story was so sad and heartbreaking, but it was such a good story. The art style is beautiful and it is an amazing story.

Plot - 9/10

Overall - 9.25/10

    I have watch both of these books' anime form and I really liked both of them. In fact, Death Note was the first anime I ever watched and got me into anime/manga as a whole. I haven't really found many non-action stories that I have liked, but I really did enjoy a Silent Voice. I have though about reading the Death Note manga for a while, but never got around to it. Nice review!

    Hey Addison! I've heard quite a lot about Death Note and seen it on some of my social media pages. I think I may check it out because of your review and high rating of it! I've watched the movie of Silent Voice and found it pretty sad too. I might check out the book since the movie was good and your high rating of it! Great blog!

    Hey Addison! These seem very interesting! I've heard of these books but I thought they were only movies haha, I'm not the biggest manga fan, but I'll have to look into those!

      I still can't believe you thought that I would be able to read the mangas in Japanese T-T and that I didn't have subtitles on when I watched them

    I definitely have heard of Death Note from somewhere, and honestly it sounds way cooler than I thought it would! (My only question is, what sort of name is "light"?) Also, I loved the way you formatted this blog post -- I think different people probably value different aspects of manga (not that I would know; I don't read manga [I do occasionally read webtoons though]), so rating them for different categories is probably really helpful for someone to know whether they would actually like the book!

    Hi addison, I love how you put a rating for 3 different elements in the book, it really added a depth to the reviews! The summaries are also very good, and I remember seeing you read these! Great review :)

A review of Barron's AP Computer Science A prep book - DJ

 Hello everyone, the past five days of my life, I have been extremely invested in a particular piece of literature—to the point where it is all I read the moment I get home. "What is this fascinating book?", you might be asking. Well I shall make you wait no longer. This book is none other than the Barron's AP Computer Science A prep book. Second in the Barron's book series, I decided to pick this one up after finishing the first book in the series last year, Barron's AP Calculus BC Premium prep book, since it was so fascinating. An Overview of the album "Who Really Cares" by TV Girl by Addison Wright (Pt. 2/2)

 If you're reading this blog, you probably have already read the first one, so I'm just going to jump straight into this one! 1. Cigarettes out the Window "Cigarettes out the Window" is one of their most popular songs from this album. It has a different feel to it, however. It doesn't have the same "repeating-factor" and dream-like feeling as all of their other songs do in this album. It still has the calm vibe they are known for, still tackling intense topics with harsh words and a calm vibe. This song explores the topic of loneliness because, at this point, the main character has already accepted that the one he loved has left. The sampling in this song is one of my favorites. They took an old Hollywood movie clip while playing the instrumental in the background and it really just encompasses the whole vibes they were going for.
