What Book You Should Read Based Off of Your Favorite Popular Queen Song by Addison Wright

 Killer Queen

The Address by Fiona Davis

Set in the 1880s, The Address is about a woman (Sara) who fails her apprenticeship and decides to work her way up to the head maid of a posh hotel in London. When she does, she is shocked to meet Theodore, one of the few architects of a new apartment house in New York. They started talking and this led to a job offer. This job takes her to America where she lives with him and his wife and children.

100 years later, we then focus on Bailey, Theodore's granddaughter. She is a former party-goer, fresh out of rehab, and is looking for a fresh start. She never saw a dime from Theodore, since she needed proof of genetic linkage, which she didn't have.

Many aspects of this book remind me heavily of Killer Queen. Killer Queen is about a high-class girl who is rather posh and stuck up. To put it in Freddy Mercury's words, "I'm trying to say that classy people can be whores as well". This book has many aspects of that, so I think if you enjoy this song, you will enjoy The Address.

Bohemian Rhapsody

We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson

This book follows Henry, a teenager whose boyfriend just committed suicide. Henry is taken by aliens and is given the option to save the world with just the press of a button. He is allowed 144 days to make his decision. This entire book follows him and his difficulty accepting his boyfriend's death, his brother getting his girlfriend pregnant accidentally, and everyone around him proving to him that the world should end. (If you want a longer summary, check the blog. I have posted one.)

Bohemian Rhapsody is rumored to be about Freddy Mercury's own struggle with his identity. Him realizing that he was bisexual and what his parents would think of him if he came out to him. The song also talks about derealization, unsure of whether or not he actually exists sometimes, or if it's all in his head. There are so many more fan theories of this song, but so many of them fit into We Are the Ants.

Somebody to Love

Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

This book starts with Patroculas, son of King Menoetius. He was supposed to marry Helen of Troy, but when she chose Menelaus instead, he had to take a blood oath. He then accidentally kills one of his father's nobles' sons and is exiled. This is where he meets Achilles. They become close friends and Patroculas develops feelings for him. Achilles's mother believes that Patroculas is at too low of status to accompany her son, so she does everything in her power to stop it from happening.

This book encompasses Queen's purpose of Somebody to Love, so if you like this song, you might like this book.
