Grave Consequences… FNaF: Out of Stock -- Review by Gail
Before getting into the next part of Out of Stock, I say, I forgot to mention that this is a story that goes along with a horror game series called “Five Night’s at Freddy’s” made by Scott Cawthon.
If you
had the chance to get the one thing you’ve wanted all year but the minute you
get close, your chance disappears, what would you do? Oscar, desperate and
zoned out in an eruption of angry customers, saw a chance to grab that one
thing he really wanted. A Plushtrap Chaser, a three-foot-tall “…light-activated
chomping green rabbit…” as the book describes it. In all the chaos, Oscar steals
the toy, a choice that in a few days he and his friends would drastically
regret.
After
reaching Oscar’s house, he and his friends, Isaac and Raj, try almost everything
they can to power on their new all-too-humanlike Plushtrap Chaser. Seeing on
the box that the toy is only activated in the darkness they decide to wait.
In a few
days, everything goes rotten and bloody. Oscar takes a hit that send him
flying, the boys get chased around Oscar’s own house, and they realize that their
one choice to steal the odd-looking toy could be what gets them killed the
night before Halloween.
Me, personally,
I absolutely loved this part of the story. There was suspense, action,
confusion, and overall, it made me sit on the edge of my bean bag. Now that I’ve
finished the story, I like how Oscar was such a relatable character in some
ways (obviously not stealing a 3-foot-tall chomping machine) and how the story
was able to tell Oscar’s feelings and thoughts in a way that almost anyone
would be able to empathize with. In this story there are parts that could make someone
want to puke, but I think my favorite parts are when something happens, and I must
stop reading to try and figure out how it happened or what led to it.
I wouldn’t
necessarily recommend this specific story to anyone who doesn’t like gory/semi-gory
descriptions, but if you’re someone who would be interested in a short,
suspenseful reading, I would recommend this to you!
But just remember,
some actions have grave consequences…
